Optimistic? i don't think so !?

Did you see the guy in Oprah (who i don't know his name, but he wrote a book called"Inconvenient truth" or something like that). He talked about the dangerous effects of global warming , and what happened to Grenland over the last years !?
Another sceptic guy , wrote another book saying that that guy(who i don't know his name) is just over reacting .
So,are you optimistic or pesimistic !?

Answer:
Yeah your right Al Gore is just after the $$$$ and the fame there is nothing else to it. I think its a bonus for him every time some liberal, or green peace moron agrees with him, and says how he is doing the world a great justice lol. But did anybody think about all the energy it took to make that dumb movie of his, or all the trees he kills every year they print his dumb book. So in the end I have to be optimistic for if you are pessimistic its the end of the world everyday that you wake up.... So why be sad :( when you can be Happy :)
lol that would be Al Gore and I believe he was over-reacting somewhat but It wouldn't hurt to make sure and just drive a hybrid :)
yeah i saw him on there. haha. and im an optimist. i think if u r always positive, life will be a whole lot more fun and u will be happier as well as make others happy!
the guy that wrote the inconvenient truth which is ALso a movie it al gore... and the other guy i cant really think of right now but anyhow that's not the point Al gore is not over reacting i watched the movie and if you did too you could learn a lot from it and how to save the earth from global warming too which more ppl need to do before there are more hurricanes and global warming induced nature accidents
quite clearly, there is a problem.
2 problems, in fact.
but Al Gore is smart enough to understand that, to be credible, you should only work on one at a time.

the 2 problems are
-- Global warming, and the likelihood that food production will be disrupted.
-- Population increase, requiring more food.

i think it will be less than 20 years before the 2 problems intersect, and the world is likely to get really ugly.

the other guy might be Michael Crichton who wrote a fictional book, that he intended to look real. and there are a number of people who think it is real. some folks, Charlie Rose comes to mind, have tried to get him to admit he was wrong, but he cannot because
-- he still gets royalties from sales,
-- the publisher paid him to write it, and if he goes out an tells everyone it's a lie, he'll never get another book contract again.

if you'd like, I'm sure Exxon-mobile will be more than happy to point you to some of their paid lairs.
As has been said, the guy on Oprah would be Al Gore - former wannabe president of the US. He's very vocal when it comes to climate change, he's not a scientist but instead repeats the science of others - a kind of messenger if you will.

I'm optimistic by nature and although global warming and climate change can bring about many adverse consequences we're at a point now where we can adapt and make changes that benefit both humanity and the environment. The questiuon is - is their enough impetus for us to do this or are people too set in their ways to want to change.

We've seen some countries rise up to meet the challenges of climate change and in doing so they've made significant technological advances. If we continue this treend and other countries follow suit we could be headed for a much cleaner and more efficient world in the future.

If we do nothing climate change will be disasterous, if we make some tough decisions now we can make a better world for the future.
In order to stop Global Warming we would have to reduce world wide emissions of carbon dioxide to less than one tenth of what they are today.

You would have to get the cooperation of every country on this planet.

You would cause a world wide depression far worse than anything that we experienced on the 1930's if you tried to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to less than one tenth of what they are today.

Realistically no person in a position of power is willing to do the things that would be required and cause the world wide depression that would result if you did try to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to less than one tenth of what they are today.

Also it is unlikely that you would get the cooperation of all of the other countries. The People's Republic of China has stated emphatically that they will not reduce their use of fossil fuels and the carbon dioxide emissions that accompany that use. In fact China plans to dramatically increase it s use of fossil fuels.

China alone has enough carbon dioxide emissions to cause Global Warming even if every other country on the face of this planet were to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions to zero.

We must accept the fact that we cannot stop Global Warming unless we are willing to destroy our civilization.

Fortunately we can mitigate the effects of Global Warming.

The sea levels will rise.

We can protect coastal areas from flooding by the use of dike systems similar to those in Holland.

Hurricanes will become stronger and more freequent. We need to help the affected countries upgrade their disaster preparedness systems.

Droughts will become more frequent. We will need to help with supplemental water supplies and desalination plants.

We cannot stop Global Warming but we can mitigate the effects of Global Warming.

.
Cute question. XD

You really couldn't remember his name?
