Has anyone heard of using black light for air filtration in the cold air return of your house?

I've heard that a black light in your air reurn will help kill micro-particals in your home. any idea where i can find more info on this topic

Answer:
Never heard of a need for it in a private residence, but hospitals use short wave (SW) UV (not the longer "black light" UV) to kill microorganisms in the air. The downside is that it also produces ozone, which must be removed catalytically or it causes lung damage, eye irritation and damages rubber and textiles.
At one time, small SQ UV "ozone" bulbs were used in restaurant "smoke eaters" to try to mask cigarette smoke; I do not know if it did any good.
Since the light would have to hit the germs, it would do little good in HVAC where there are many dark crannies.
not black light, UV light. Black light doesn't do anything. just google search UV air duct
never heard of black light. i've heard hear Uv light helps stimulates a good mood though!
