What do you do with the left over food at home?
Answer:
feed the homeless
Eat it, because if I don't my 2 boys (2.5 yrs and 1.3 yrs) will!!
I feed it to the birds.
If still edible for another day or two, we would save it for the next day and eat it. If it cannot last after one day,we would just let our dogs enjoy it.
give it to the animals because i hate to waste food. if we(my parents and i) don't leave food we can feed the hungry street dogs (in india).
i dont like throwing away foods, with so many people going to bed at night hungry... if and when i do have a left over, i make sure to re-cook it for breakfast or i make a new dish out of it, like if i have a left over meat, i mince it and add it to my kids omelet.
I eat it, but sometimes I forget and it starts to grow fuzz.
WE GENRELY FEED IT TO ANIMALS MAINLY COWS
Take it to work with me, if you have kids you could give it to them to take to school, eat it the next day, or make a new meal out of it. Something very fun my father loves to do. He'll take just about anything and make a soup, mix it with eggs, turn it into a salad, or turn it into a very weird quasi Chinese dish and serve over rice.. Hmm..
place it in the fridge and eat it later on
dispose of it
Eat it. Scrape mould off, cook up, or whatever.
If too rank to eat, feed to dog (not cattle! Don't want to give them BSE or FMD).
If too rank for dog (unlikely...) or not edible for dog (orange peel etc), then compost, to make the garden grow.
We put in the refrigerator.
We have a farm with cows near our house, we generally prepare rice every day so we give them to cow.
compost
Usually put it in a container and in the fridge, sometimes the pets get some or the compost heap. The garbage is the last resort.
Put it in the fridge, and later on take it out, warm it up and eat it! My mom hates to throw food away.leftover is good when there is nothing cooked. =D
Dog ,rabbit ,wild boar and crocodile
if they dont want it it goes to the compost
Organic waste is responsible for 70% of contamination in Land fills if it goes out with the trash ,so please do not do this
COMPOST
bones,treetrunks,cardboard,egg... clothes(if they are organic),poop,leaves,kitchen waste,foodscraps,newspaper,
your mother inlaw and kitty litter
and even the dead cat
All can be put on the compost heap
as long as you seal it with a covering of leaves .or put a piece of plastic on top ,
keep it moist and in the shade ,it will then get hot enough to kill all parasites
the worms will devellop, and take care of everything ,the moisture helps decomposition
the plastic keeps in the moisture and protects the worms from predators .like chickens ,birds armadillos, and even dogs .i have seen going in to eat my worm culture
you could add a bit of lime now and again
to make the process more potent
HOW
make the compost in a shallow hole ,so that it retains more humidity,
about 2 square meters is good ,and have it under a tree or put a little roof over i t,which does not have to be water proof ,so a palm thatch is enough,
and makesure the garden sprinkler gets there or spray some water on it ,at least once a week, dont have it water logged or the worms will drown or leave
you should put some bamboo or branches in it so that some air gets in ,or carefully turn it over with a garden fork now and again.
RECYCLING
Cardboard is also acceptable for recycling
so is glass if you classify it in colors, and
aluminium cans
I very rarely cook,so I have little left over.I'm conserving energy by free loading every night at one of my 3 daughters houses.I see whats for dinner and just pop over after work. They say that they would be throwing out what I eat,so why make them waste.I do freeze any left overs at my house...
here are some good suggestions.
1. you can eat it.
2 you can give it to the starving people at the homeless shelters.
We eat left overs for lunch the next day.
All of the veggie waste, like peelings, carrot tops, and such, go into the composter.
If you have a large amount left over freeze it for a later date.
Lunch for the next day at work.
put it in refrigerator, eat some , give some to my parrot, the rest down the garbage disposal
put it in the fridge and reinvent into another meal the next day or take it to work for lunch.
put it in the fridge and have them the next night
If it is eatable then it is used, if not it is tossed.
