Do scientists believe Mankind will survive the 2nd Ice Age? How long did the 1st Ice Age last?

Answer:
There have been at least 4 Ice Ages. Scientifically an Ice Age is defined as a period when sheets of glacial ice exist in the Polar Regions, so technically we are still in an Ice Age.
In-between Ice Ages the Earth is free of glacier ice sheets, even at higher altitudes. The known Ice ages are:
1st - 2.3 to 2.7 billion years ago.
2nd - 630 to 860 million years ago (this being most severe, it is believed there was a period in this ice age when the entire Earth was covered in ice).
3rd - 260 to 350 million ago.
4th - 40 million years ago to present.
It is believed a minor ice age occurred about 430 - 460 million years ago.
During this current Ice Age, glacial ice sheets have been retreating and expanding at 100,000 year intervals.
If by definition we only consider an Ice Age a time when glaciers cover most of North America and Eurasia, then last one ended 10,000 years ago.
However, from a Scientific standpoint we are still in an Ice Age since glacier ice still exists in the polar regions, we are simply in a period where the glacial ice sheets have retreated.
On the other hand Dinosaurs whom existed from the Triassic period to the end of Cretaceous period (about 165 million years), lived at time in-between Ice Ages, the poles were free of Ice.
So can humans live in an ice age? Yes, our entire existence has been during an ice age.
their have been a couple of ice ages. There was one around 1000 AD during the dark ages. So ya i think we can. An ice age dosent mean that all the oceans freeze and stuff. It just means that globally things are colder than usual.
there already has been more than one ice age.
Man can survive almost anything the planet throws at him. Now, what another man throws at him?
