How hard is it to compost?

Interested in starting to compost. How hard is it?

Answer:
It’s simple:
Basically just take your scraps and spoiled things (fruit, veggies, bread, coffee, cleaned egg shells, old prepared rice, salsa, etc.) and mix them in with grass clippings, leafs, plant cuttings (if there not diseased), etc. Layer them in a 3X3 or 4X4 pile and water it. Throw in a little fresh dirt (for microbes) & herbivore manure (if you've got it). That's all there is to it if you want a long term pile (6-12 months). If you want a faster result you will need to turn the pile over every 2-7 days (for aeration) and keep it moist.

You can also compost with worms in your house over the winter. You use red wigglers that you can get from a bait store. You put them in a plastic container with lots of shredded newspaper and just add your kitchen waste as you get it.

compost what?
please be more specific.

If you want to create a compost pit, I think it is not that hard except for the digging part...
actually its not that hard. i have a compost bin and i throw all veggie,coffee,eggshells,grassc... and all kinds of greens in it. don't put any form of meat, bones or dairy products in it. i heard not to put fish but old timers say its good for your garden.
As hard was enclosing a three foot by three foot space, two feet high with boards in your yard. Then throw your grass clippings raw vegetable peels, and shredded documents in with a few shovel fulls of bagged compost or manure and a bit of garden fertilizer then turn it over every few weeks. After a month you will be very comfortable with the process.
nothing could be easier

First of all we have to clasify trash at least keep the organic to one side ,like in a plasic bin with a lid

if you are in a apartment ,if you have a balcony get a big plastic bin drill some holes in the side and lid ,

and add a bit of sand now and again to put over the trash ,you should realy stir or move the stuff at times to airate it and ensure that the decomposition is overall ,keep moist

there are special compost bins you can get for apartments ,best to keep on the balcony where there is airflow.

------------------------------...
a general note on compost

bones,treetrunks,cardboard,egg... clothes(if they are organic),poop,leaves,kitchen waste,foodscraps,newspaper,
kitty litter and even the dead cat

All can be put on the compost heap

as long as you seal it with a covering of leaves .or put a piece of plastic on top ,
keep it moist and in the shade ,it will then get hot enough to kill all parasites

the worms will devellop, and take care of everything ,the moisture helps decomposition

the plastic keeps in the moisture and protects the worms from predators .like chickens ,birds armadillos, and even dogs .i have seen going in to eat my worm culture

you could add a bit of lime now and again
to make the process more potent

HOW
make the compost in a shallow hole ,so that it retains more humidity,
about 2 square meters is good ,and have it under a tree or put a little roof over i t,which does not have to be water proof ,so a palm thatch is enough,

and makesure the garden sprinkler gets there or spray some water on it ,at least once a week, dont have it water logged or the worms will drown or leave

Organic waste is responsible for 70% of contamination in Land fills if it goes out with the trash ,so please do not do this

RECYCLING
Cardboard is also acceptable for recycling

so is glass if you classify it in colors, and
aluminium cans
Creating a Compost pile is easy.

Start by getting some rabbit wire fencing,
make a round area, start throwing in dead
leaves, sticks, and other stuff swept up from
the ground. Throw your coffee grounds, tea
bags, rinsed and crunched egg shells, peels
rinds, ---organic stuff.

Keep on putting it in. Whenever you are needing
to get your aggressions out, go stir your pile...

Starbucks regularly gives free grounds for folks
gardens or compost piles.

If you don't get much rain, water your pile on
occasion. If you find an errant earthworm or
two, toss em in the mix.

Woooowieee!
It is easy, you just throw all of you decomposable waste into a pile, you can build a three sided structure or you can buy one of those compost tumblers, or you can just use a trash can, throw the stuff in as you collect it and there you go.

We even have a composting toilet.
easy, dont get put off by the info out there, I bug anything what has lived in mine as it comes. And hardly ever turn it. It dose take longer(ayear) but with little work! I put in all food waste in the compost without any trouble.
get a bokashi bucket it emits no smells and ferments all the food and organic waste and makes a very potent plant juice and potent soil plant food.
THey are about 100$
It's easy. I bought a compost tumbler and put all the yard waste and vegetable scraps in it. Add water and time, tumble it occasionally and voila! it's compost.

I recommend against using any animal products in your compost because it will smell bad and draw rodents.
