Answer:
I agree with Wisey, but also there is a need to cut trees for several reasons. One being the need to have space to build sometimes requires cutting down trees. We did that when we built our house. BUT we also planted other trees to replace those, and spaced them where it better landscaped our home.

There is nothing wrong with removing a tree here and there as long as you remember to replace them. I know it takes awhile to grow them back as big as some old trees, but sometimes it is necessary.
people cut down trees for space
like to bulid more houses and stores
Uh, to clear away brush, for the timber industry, even Al gore and Sheryl Crow need one piece of toilet paper. The timber industry gets a bad name for their loging operations, but they are also responsible for planting more trees than anyone else in the world. If they run out of trees they go out of business...think about it,.
The answer basically is that...people do not think about the consecuences of what are they doing.

They cut trees, pollute our earth and water, do not recicle...why? because people think of now, what they can get now to satisfy their demands and needs and do not think that the concecuences for those actions will be devastaing for our planet and for future generations.
Okay. Before you get on your preachy high horse thinking you know so much about the environment, maybe you should learn to spell. Or use punctuation.
A lot of the time trees need to be cut down for the resources, space, or because the tree is old and sick. Often times people don't realize that forest need to be thin either naturally by fire or by thinning the forest by humans to keep the trees healthy.
1. For wood

2. Trees with disease need to be destroyed otherwise the disease will spread to other tree's

3. The amount of trees we chop down really does'nt make much difference to the amount of oxygen in the air

The bad thing though is that animals habitats are destroyed, and i agree people should be less attached to there cars.

p.s. Try make your questions easier to understand
If trees could scream would we be so cavalier about cutting them down?
We might,,,
If they screamed all the time,,,,
For no apparent reason...
trees act like a blanket insulating the globe, and causing temperatures to rise.

so to save the earth from global warming, we should actually cut down all trees, right?
Well I got tired of trying to read your mumbo jumbo..but
Allthough we do need to cut down trees the amount we cut down is crazy. Not even getting to the animal habitats we're ruining!
Trees are a truly renewable resource and thier use is very environmentally friendly. The misuse of our forested land is the problem. In S. America, there are cattle farmering corporations stripping away forests only to create pastures for their livestock. This is definitely bad for the environment.
In America today, lumber companies replant trees in areas they harvest insuring they will have more trees to harvest later. It would not be in their best interest to cut down all the trees, they'd soon be out of business.
The production of plastics we use as lumber replacement products are much worse for the environment than using wood.
We just had to cut down 3 trees on our property because they were dying and in danger of falling on our deck where our 2 year-old play, so I guess our son's life is more important than a tree. Sometimes trees need to be removed because the roots cause hazards and ruin roads, sidewalks, driveways. Most people don't just cut down a tree on a whim. What is the house made out of that you live in? Plastic? Houses are made out of trees, apartments are made out of trees. To keep everyone from being homeless trees need to be sacrificed.
its a natural resource and sometimes it is meant to be cut down either for space, paper, and just everyday uses
The forestry industry is a renewable one. Lumber companies don't make any money if there are no trees to harvest. its a sustainable industry. now think about how many products you use that are made from trees. Toilet Paper, Lumber, paper, etc. now think of how many of these you use everyday. try wiping with plastic and see how ya like it! Trees are hardy things, Maine and New Hampshire used to be farm land 100 years ago. They're covered in trees now! Walking to place to place is great if you live in a city but those of us who live in rural America can't want 15 miles to the store, its just not practical
to make space and make paper and furniture and houses, the place you live in wouldnt be possible without trees.
Trees need to be cut down for various reasons. To clear land for building homes,to heat homes, to keep disease from spreading from one tree to another, paper products, mulch for gardens and they need to come down when laying on power/phone lines. Nature has always done her own thing to thin out forests and maintain the balance. Lightning strikes, tornados ,hurricanes are just some of the ways that she does her work. People need to understand and appreciate reforestation efforts by individuals and companies. Most home builders replace some of the trees that they cut down to build their homes when they do their landscaping . Lumber companies do reforestation projects . They have to or they would be out of business eventually. The same goes for people who grow Christmas trees. If they did not replant they would be out of business. If you would like to explore what other countries are doing to aid in protecting the trees you could go to : reforest, org or outland.ca
You are SO right - let's stop using paper for books etc and wooden furniture. What about we set up a website StopCuttingDownOurTrees.com and use that for our protest.
Power to the PEOPLE and the TREES.
In the beginning it was the norm to plant 3 for everyone you cut down .Now they say it cost to much to do that .So what will happen when there is more bare land than land with trees .
As for us over sized people my girlfriend an I live 15 miles from work we go in together when we can even if one of us has to wait 2 or more hours on a shift to start or end .We get what we need while in town and bring it home if we forget something it waits till the next work day . We don't waste gas lights or water .
I totally see it your way I walk alot I don't walk to places I am only 13 (that's the rule:( ) But I try to be very resourceful and I reduce, reuse and recycle I would never cut down a tree my mom and I are acually looking for trees at walmart to plant!
But truly a little amount of trees NEED to be cut down and as u stated we are giving back by breathing out carbon dioxide! Also trees can be re grown and they biodegrade but I am not saying we should cut down trees only if there is a good reason such a builing a log cabin!
Please:

1) Take and English course
2) Learn to spell
3) Discover the miracle of punctuation

I cannot understand what you are saying.
here is why

---------------here is a general note on deforestation
CAN DEFORESTATION BE STOPPED
Almost impossible

trees are coming down all the time ,
in My town trucks loaded with huge logs of exotic timber leave the mountains with permits bought from corrupt oficials almost nightly

we can only guess at the exact amount but from my house we can see many bare patches on the mountains and the river is constantly muddy in the last 3 years ,because topsoils, without the protection of the forrests , is washed into the rivers ,

this is just one place and this is happening all over Mexico ,the Market for the wood being the USA.

the Indians or local people would cut everything down and burn the forrest to replace it with harmfull short term farming killing the soil in no time

expanding populations and expanding farming ,that has to keep pace with the expanding populations are very strong forces that encroach upon the forrest's
clearing them for farming and settlement areas .

that and the giant networks of roads that have exchanged forests for asphalt all over the planet

In Mexico is a famous jungle that the Media has been trying to save for years
the Naturists ,and the government ,keep watch .laws are made for protection the wild and to forbid logging.
TV put out a series of documentaries
there are campaigns in the News papers
and all of this has not made the slightest difference

Rainforest's always are in third world countries and always in third world countries corruption and the need for money s highest

the jungle gets smaller by the day
more and more farmers move in .and burn the trees
it is an impossible situation
as long as there is poverty and an increasing birth rate in these regions the destruction will continue

they are too easily tempted to sell of exotic animals to the unscroupelous people who buy them.for the market that exists in the USA.

REFORRESTATION

we must reforrest and at the same time reduce our carbon emissions.
most governments are aware of these and many first world countries now include programs to reduce their carbon emissions.

the world bank pays large subsidies for farmers to plant trees especially a tree called Paulownia elongate carolinia, because it is one of the better ones that capture carbon.

IN THE PAST
the sahara used to be forrests
arabia ,irak ,iran used to be fertile lands in biblical times
Ghengas Kahn burned all the forrests here and filled the well with water and so turning vast lands into dessert.
the Spanish Armada deforested Spain
.the Phoenician fleet deforested Lebanon

Madagascar a botanic paradise is now destroyed
the exotic animals sold or killed ,the forest slash and burned for agriculture ,the coastal water poluted by topsoils washed fronm the denuded moutains by the rains.

many many countries in Africa (because of poverty and war as well as greedy farming )
Borneo because of the expensive timber
india ,China ,Mexico ,South Americas Amazonia,
Europe because of civilization,USA,Japan because of overpopulation,

NOTE
1000 trees that are replanted do not come anywhere near as producing the same effect or fullfilling the same function ,as far as carbon absorbtion ,production of humidity, climatic effects as the absorbtion or release of heat ,as ONE SINGLE FULLY GROWN TREE.

people keep saying we are good we cut down a thousand trees and replanted 20 thousand more

This means nothing in terms of environmental effects.

it takes at least 10 to 20 years before one of these replanted trees makes the same impact as the ones that are removed
------------------------------...
we must look for ways to improve economic situations on the edges of Nature .

the only way to preserve the forrest is to devellop eco tourism under strict control that has limited acces ,and use the local people in the concept as guides ,hotel staff and get them to start home industries of artifacts .

eco tourism is the only concept that profits by a healthy back ground with out harming it
