Oops! Is this really Radioactive sludge?!?
Answer:
If it is radioactive it will fog photographic film. Place an unopened cassette of new film next to it overnight and then have the film developed. If the film is completely dark, there was no radioactivity near it. You can even use the film to take regular pictures before you develop it. If there was any radioactivity, your pictures will look like there was a light leak in the camera. If the pictures look normal, there was no radioactivity.
I doubt that it is radioactive waste but if you have any doubts gets rid of it.
