Why are flies so attracted to light/fan fixtures? Mainly anything that hangs down from the ceiling.?

Anyone know?

Answer:
A fly's vision is like a 360 degree theater. When it lands on something that hangs from the ceiling it can see everything around it. When it lands on a flat surface it can't see what is 'below' it.
