How much known energy reserves are in the world?

Answer:
Our energy reserves are in the form of brain power. The United States own audit from the department of energy shows, we can meet our needs with wind power. We have the brains to meet our needs with technology we currently have. We need one thing the WILL ! People have the power to make the power. Our known technology can provide all the energy we need. We must harness the WILL! GE one of the largest companies in the world is spending million on wind technology that is on sale now. Thanks for the question.
Canada just discovered the second largest oil reserve ever found. It is estimated to be able to supply Canada and the US with enough oil for 60 years
There are alot of energy reserves in the world. They just try to make it sound like there isn't.
-Wind power is a ever lasthing energy. But they don't turn on even half of the windmills. At any point of time, I think only a third of them are running.
-Coal Power is still around
-Fossil Fuels
-Grain Fuels
there are alot of differant resources of energy that aren't even tapped into, because the oil companies have a hand in the governments pockets.
There are conflicting studies and surveys, some say we are fine for the next 20 yrs + and others say we are not. The best way to make up your own mind is to read these reports. You can find some very good reports @: eia.doe.gov,
eub.gov.ab.ca,
worldenergy.org,
freerepublic.com and
mailmanhalisp.net.
RESERVES refers to already stored energy here on Earth, ie petroleum, coal, uranium, etc. There is no known amount but we know eventually we will run out and have to rely only on energy that comes from the sun which hopfully wont be a problem by the time that comes around. Many people claim new epic sized oil reserves are found every so oftain but they usually end up being no where near as big as thought.
I remeber in the 50's hearing that we would be out of oil by the 90's. (The world was coming to an end in the 90's too) So people scoff at predictions of running out of oil just as we scoff at those who claim "The end is near!"
But in the 1950's a gallon of gas cost .28. (Twenty eight cents) Today, where I live, the cheapest gas is $3.35 and we are fighting wars to get more of it (Afghanistan and Iraq)

The one thing we can say with certainty is that if we continue to use our resources faster than they can be replenished, some day, we will run out. But long before that day, we will be experiencing more bad effects than we are now - including war, cost, and pollution and health problems etc etc.

Once a problem is perceived the intelligent thing to do is to go about finding a solution to it rather than wasting time pretending it doesn't matter or even exist. So I say, instead of counting up our reserves, we should get busy finding alternatives to carbon based fuel sources, for ecenomic, political, environmental and health reasons all of which are being impacted by our growing need to consume more and more carbon based fuel sources right now.
