Save energy. dont close your curtains?

i have been thinking of ways to help cut down on energy and worked out that i really dont need to open and close my curtains every day. it has proved to be a waste of time and effort as i live in a li'l country village without much passing trade. now i can use the aforementioned energy to much greater use. but i haven't decided quite what yet. any ideas?

Very funny!! Made me laugh. It also struck a cord.My grandmother would not turn a light on in the house unless it was strictly necessary. But to get back to your question, you could use the energy saved by not closing the curtains to make a cheese sandwich or maybe nip to the loo, either way, you're a winner!
Take up a very quick hobby
Don't post daft suggestions on Y/A. Then you would save time and energy again. If we stopped doing everything domestic around the house it would save even more!!
your curtains keep heat in your home when the warm air hits the cold glass it cools and becomes cold air your curtains reduce the warm air geting to the glass x
yeh if u lik
i can't see how curtains save enegy in the fist place all they do is hang around all day. Why not just remove them if your not using them.
The physical energy involved in opening and closing curtains is minimal. Closing curtains in winter will help to retain warmth in the house. Closing curtains in summer, in rooms you are not using, like bedrooms will help to stop the house heating up and obviate the need for fans and air-conditioning.
very, very, very funny.
close curtains to keep heat in. Open curtains during day allows you not to use lights unnecessary. rather concentrate on switching your geyser off when you get home and back on first thing in the morning.
It really depends on where you live? Do you live in an arid, temperate, humid, or arctic environment. All have different methods of saving energy. Hot arid environments require closing of the curtain and serious insulation to prevent the heat from cooking you alive. You are talking about temperate climates. You need as much glazing possible. Humid areas need good ventilation. And arctic areas need small windows and a genius method of not losing heat.
