Permaculture: Local Council spends £30,000 getting rid of 'garden waste' a year. Any suggestions?
You may like to consider why the council insists on cutting all council owned grass. Why are people given warnings and financial penalties for allowing their lawns to naturalize?
What would you suggest to our council?
Our local council will not sell their own 'Green Waste' - grass cuttings from council property and verges - because of health and safety issues. There may be glass shards in it. As told to my husband when he asked to buy it.
Answer:
your council is in a great position to have a very lucrative compost operation ,using their equipment and manpower and probably space they got
with all of the wastes produced by a comunity .such as the abatoirs and markets plus the cuttings from urban greenery
added to manure from the outskirts of town of freeholds and farms
if the farmer was stupid enough to get rid of his manure
Obviously they lack people with sight or the ability to calculate
