What course will humankind will take?

after all the oil and other fossil fuels are depleted, and therefore modern civilzation all goes away. How far back would technology and other social innovations de-evolve?

Answer:
I think it will just be like all other species in nature. The strongest, or best positioned will survive. I think it is already happening in the world. As oil and other resources shrink, the areas of the world without natural resources and unprepared will suffer most and be forced to "de-evolve".

Many countries around the world cannot feed themselves now. Many countries have no oil or coal. They are already seeing the result of allowing population to out pace natural resources.
OMG, OIL WILL BE GONE ONE DAY, WHATEVER WILL WE DO!?!?!?

I'll buy you a bicycle, if you will ride it in the opposite direction. I'll even give you a push to start.

There will always be newer technologies :)
god will wipe all the evil out and take the chrsitians with him.. i'm suprised the earth lasted this long...
they will be back to horse and buggy days
