Do you believe in the purpose of Live Earth?

Answer:
No, it is just a money-making scheme. Look at all the energy that is being wasted flying all those "has-been" bands around the country. And then the energy wasted to get all the people there to the concert, the paper wasted in food packaging, all the mess they will leave behind to be cleaned up by some crew. The purpose is to make money. If it weren't that reason, then it would be free to the public, right? And it isn't.
Yes; but it could all be done from home and on the internet and have the bands play to the cameras. without all the need for the mega-tonnes of waste that event will generate. The crowd can mong and feel their sense of purpose on webcam. :p
Yes.As for the practicality of it-definitely no.It's pretty much a complete farce for obvious reasons.A one-off event such as this may raise the level of awareness about environmental issues to a certain degree, but will probably make little or no difference in the long run.
I think it's an Al Gore party political broadcast. I saw on TV the massive amount of equipment being used. Green is not a word I would associate with flashing bright lights, screaming guitars and monster sound systems draining the National Grid of Power.

I am not impressed. Where is the wind power generator for all of this?
Damn right I do!
we cannot have enough exposure to raise Environmental awareness .
Many people will be affected
Al Gore Mentions 2 billion
that is a lot more than the crowds that Jesus pulled

You may not agree with Al Gores aproach in his movie ,but the results are all positive
Many people agree that because of that they have become aware that there even is a problem ,and decided to investigate further or even change their lifestyle a bit
this is all good,

And these concerts will do a lot more, and world wide
Bringing Global warming into the focus of the masses .

The effects of Woodstock rippled on for decades changing atitudes that persist with many people who are in power today .

A changed mentality with the youth today means changes with control tomorrow
At least in theory
I wonder what their carbon footprint looks like. but i suppose some minor celeb will get on a trip to Africa or Antarctica. the BBC will show it on TV and we as licence payers will foot the bill.and while this is going on and i am on my computer, America and china will keep on pumping out co2 gas and rest assured that someone will make big money out of this.
well something to do this w/end, so long as i don't have to pay to watch it, or make a donation for some lost cause, and anyway i hope they will be wrapped up nice and warm, because as anyone in the UK will know, it ain't that hot here at the moment. so where's that global warming ?
i agree with straydog,
live earth is contributing to global warming, all the energy being used ,stars flying to gigs around the world ,people driving to concerts and all the rubbish left behind...
All this climate change, global warming rubbish is just a huge money making scam. Here in Australia, they've encouraged us to use less water. Now we've done what they've asked, they turn around and say the price of our water is rising because less people are using it and they're not making enough money! What a rort! Basically, don't believe any of it. Global warming? The Earth's temperature has risen only 0.5% in the last 100 years! Is that really global warming?? You decide, I know what I think...
I belive in the purpose of live earth, I mean who wouldn't?Save the earth and people from dyin. The only problem i have with it is the fact that they can throw all the concerts they want, but it won't help. They will only in essence be doing the earth no good because people are going to fly there!
I think the whole matter has become rather hysterical. It is good to look after our planet but Local Councils are now creating 'little Hitlers' and dictating how and what we recycle and the dire things that will happen if we put out too much rubbish. I do think that these faded "pop stars" merely use the matter as an excuse to get noticed again and I definitely will not be watching the so-called concert tonight! All I wanted to do after a day visiting someone in hospital was to come home, put my feet up and watch television. What a hope - we have the teenage concert on one side and Harry Potter on the other. What a choice! Why don't the TV execs just turn over all television to children and teens and stop pretending it's for grown ups?
Sorry, but I'm pretty disgruntled.
The intentions where good, but really no I don't believe in the purpose. People where more focused on the fact that it was a concert than the fact that there was an important message at the heart of it. As usual it was more about making money, increasing people's profile, and diverting people from the real issues that need to be resolved. Sad but True
Was'nt that a rock band that was on TV.
No because we don't need celebrities to tell us about Global warming. We already know.

In fact I think the public knows more than Celebrities on the subject.

More should be done by way of action rather than just talking about it.

We need goals to work to, and more realistic ones , but everyone in the world should be doing the goals, not just one country.
yep
