Can protein be used as biomass to conserve energy?

some protein producing species do even use a lot of fossil fuel to even transport themselves, so it would help on both sides of the equation...

Answer:
Can a brick be used to make a building more 'green'? You are asking the same question. No matter how it is said it doesn't make any sense.

Short answer ... no.
yes, it can conserve energy
There is no way that a car could use proteins to run it.
#1 I have a can of tuna in front of me. This tuna is 95% protein and 5% fat. I could light this tuna on fire, and the heat could be used to run an engine. Yes. Of course protein can be used as biomass energy, and used as fuel.

#2 Can a brick make a building more "green"? Yes. Of course it can. The visitor center at NREL ( National Renewable Energy Laboratory ) in Golden, CO proves this quality of brick. A thick wall of brick slowly absorbs heat during the day. It will take about 12 hours for the heat to "soak" through the brick from the outside surface to the inside. Thus not contributing to cooling demands of the builidng during the day. However, as soon as the sun goes down, that heat is just reaching the inside of the building. The heat radiates into the building at night, reducing heating costs. By placing a pane of insulating glass in front of the brick on the outside, you can force the heat stored up during the day to radiate mostly in one direction, towards the inside of the building, and very little is reflected back into outside space.
