What is the carbon foot print of "live earth" going to be?

How much electricity is it going to use? and how much polution will be created by using all that electricty? How many busses and cars will be used to get there?

Answer:
It will be huge, but Al Gore is taking care of it by paying some people to plant trees and buy CFLs for ethiopian school houses. He's such a saint.

PS: No one is going to be inspired to turn their lifestyle around from watching this. I've been on a board for one of the artists there all day and there has been little mention of the earth in the thread devoted to Live Earth.
It doesn't matter. Think of how good people will feel about themselves for making a difference.
Relatively small due to their green guidelines, such as:

All electricity that powers the shows will be from renewable sources, either through utility supplied renewable energy, biodiesel generators, or renewable energy credits.

Concessionaires will be encouraged to use and directed to suppliers of agricultural/ biodegradable plastics (i.e. made from corn). Also, concessionaire waste will be minimized through a comprehensive recycling and reuse system organized at the venue.

Venue offices, walkways, etc will be optimized to use as little electricity as possible.
Al Gore's company, will gladly sell carbon credits...so all is well :)
That is so lame. In order to act to fight global warming, we have to use the tools that are available NOW. And that means using energy that isn't carbon-neutral.

The only people who come up with such nonsense are the real hypocrites. Why? Because idiots and hypocrites use any excuse they can--including fake "concern" over the energy used by this event--to try to derail action. The people who rase such fake objections are either stupid, REAL hypocrites--or being paid by the oil companies.
let's see. hundreds of 18 wheelers to carry equipment, private jets for every band, private rv's, generators running on gas to run equipment, and all the vehicles driven to the concert sites. big f+*&% joke.
My guess... plant the equilivant of the Amazon Rain Forest... every year for 10 years. Al Gore alone accounts for 1/2 of that.
It'll actually be negative. The idea is to encourage people to conserve energy. If only a fraction of the people watching the shows do that they'll pay for themselves a thousand times over. Sure they'll use some energy initially (even though the majority of it will be Eco-friendly energy), but the pay off, if the concert is successful, will be enormous.
Number 8 answer was very helpful. I left a comment. But, what the hay? We are a young race and we don't get it right 100% of the time. We do try, don't we? Good Q!
