What is the difference in a BA or BS in psychology?
Answer:
BA or BS in any major are pretty much the same except BS involves higher level of math courses
Advisors usually tell you to take BA if they see you are math challenged.
generally speaking BS is better than BA because the courses are little more challenging but however, the main courses for your major are the same.
A BA is a Bach. of Arts, and a BS is of science. Most likely the class requirements for the degrees are slightly different.
...have no clue...
Bachelor of Arts degree. This major prepares you for a career in social services, in service-oriented industries, and for a variety of positions in the private and public sectors. As a major in this track, you will enjoy a rich and broad undergraduate education that will prepare you for informed involvement in the community. You may also pursue the Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. This major, for instance, prepares you for work combining psychology and computer technology or in research assistant positions in medicine and industry.
The difference between the two is a BA is a bachelors in Arts and a BS is a Bachelors in Science...the difference between the two is simply a difference in how many math and science courses you have taken within your program...
If you are really asking if there is a difference in the degrees for graduate school considerations.the answer is NO. Grad schools will not pay a bit of attention to it.
(signed...BA in psychology, Ph.D. in Clinical Psych too, + some admissions knowledge)
I just wanted to add that I got a BS in psych, but that was the type of program that was at my school. If you majored in psych, you graduated with a BS. Other schools might offer a BA. I was under the impression that schools just had one and it was either under science or art. If given the choice at school, though, you should ask your advisor what the difference is for their program and which one to go for that fits what you want to do. Hope this helps.
