How does a teddy bear help a child's social and emotional development?

Answer:
In my opinion, it may also be an obstacle to said development.

It acts as a clutch (another eg being comfort blankies) that hinders their ability to be self-reliant. The unrealistic and one-sided relationship between them may not prepare them for complex real-life relationships either.
It gives them a feeling of not being lonely. A feeling of protection. That they have someone that they love and that loves them back.
It does help them. For one, it makes them less afraid of things, and later in life, that would make them more enjoyable to be in a scary movie with. So, yeah, it would help them socially and emotionally
it helps them when they're afraid of.lets say..the dark.the teddy bear gives them the feeling that they are being protected.so just find one that fits in the crook of their arm and your good2go!:-)
