Will someone please answer and help me understand this question?

I had this question asked to me by another person. I wasn't too sure how to answer it or what they were asking. If you can please answer the question and/or help me to understand it better.

Do you fall into the usual patterns of attribution to explain people's behavior?

Answer:
I do not, I try to find the specific reasons for a persons behavior not just assign a common reason. If you do not know the personal history of a particular person you can not understand the events that have led to their behaviors.
Peace
probably not

no clue what a pattern of attribution is either

I just try to be myself
It means: "Do you generalise about people?"
Behavioral patterns are the basis of understanding the situation of the person concern. On our part, we cannot 'frame' the behavior of the person but their ways or pattern in behaving help us to explain their psychological condition.
The word atttribute means to give credit. It doesn't belong in the question.
I know what the word "attribution" means but it sounds cryptic in this instance. I assume the person is asking you if you try to explain a person's behavior based upon the individual's background, circumstances or life experiences. Another option is that he or she is asking if you explain a person's behavior based upon your experience or personal attitudes. In my opinion, the person who asked this question is being too complicated when it could have been asked in simple language.
A helpful name to research is Fritz Heider.

And a group of editors compiled "Perceiving the Causes of Success and Failure," and hopefully it isn't hard to find.

I'm guessing the question has to do with something like the following example.

Someone in a restaurant begins screaming at the top of his lungs, throws the tray, plate, and cutlery across the dining room, and storms out. An internal (to him) attribution may be that he's quick tempered. An external attribution may be that he's having a bad day; perhaps he just learned that his investor blew his family's retirement fund.

I think such attributions can be internal or external and temporary or permanent, and there are probably other criteria.

A term that sometimes comes up is "fundamental attributional error," and it takes such considerations as the above into account.
