its a modern ideoligy that says everything is ordered ... seconds > minutes > hours > days > weeks > months > years.
Prehistoric man had no concept of time as we know it. Sunrise to wake up , Sunset to Sleep , the bit in the middle was for survival (hunting,fishing,gathering etc)
so in essence modern Time = Age
