Why can't I make decisions about my career change.?
Here's my afliction; I decide one day OK I'll train to be a radiologist! Then everyone says there's too much lifting. Labor Dept says I should try to stay in my field (building windows) so I think OK CAD classes. "No, say the Drs. you can't sit at a computer all day". College says I should teach industrial arts. But I don't want to invest in something that is usually the first to be cut from the budget!
Now, I already suffer from depression and bipolar disorder, Along with 4 other diseases. I'm loosing my confidence by the day. I don't have a clue as to what I should do. Does anyone have an idea of what one with my skills can do without wrecking my back? I'm getting really depressed about this. My unemployment is running out and I'm sinking! Be nice please

Here are a few things that you could consider:
1. Have you thought about filing for disability? You can still get funding for school and take classes that appeal to you. If you graduate with an applicable degree you can get back into the workforce if you so desired. Alternatively, if you have creative talent, you may put your woodworking skills to use and create or carve little things to sell at local and statewide craft shows to supplement your income.
2. Would you consider talking with a radiologist to see for yourself how much lifting there really is? If you decide to do that, your closest hospital would surely have some one who could answer your questions.
3. If the idea of learning CAD appeals to you, working part-time may be possible, as well as looking for ways to work on a computer that doesn't involve sitting down. I worked with a guy that had a tall stand-up desk, he didn't use a chair, stood for most of the day and he said he liked working better that way.
Good luck with your situation and keep your chin up! Good things will happen as long as you take one step at a time and try to do the next right thing. Many blessings.
Talk to a counselor or someone from teh unemployment departrmenat of your local county.

Looks like you should find a job where you can move yourself without making to much effort, but you can´t either staying still, cause it can hurt your back more. Why don´t you go to some aerobics classes and then give classes to some other people i think if you do that exercise wont be so bad for your back.
About depression and bipolar i believe the human been can control its mind, so if you really want to get over it, you should start thinking positively and also start trying to find the job that will fit your conditions, instead of just waiting to what happens first or next.
The college should have some kind of career counseling. They can give you tests to help you narrow down the possibilities.
What about teaching English as a second language? There is a lot of need for it. People come here to study from other countries and are required to take a certain amount of English classes. Or there's private tutoring.
My daughter was retrained in it after injuries from working on the keyboard.
What about industrial design? You probably know a good deal about that. You don't have to sit all day. You can arrange to stand or get a special chair. They may fund that also. My daughter got a voice activator for her computer.
Why are you listening to others?
Always remember that you run your own life and you are responsible for yourself. Just take a look, you had been listening to these people and you are still stuck. Just do what you like best and interest. What is so difficult in having your own mind? The way I see it, either way you are at the bottom. So start moving your butt, maybe this is your only chance.
