When did you suddenly realise that you were an adult?Question for those that feel they are adults occasionally
I remember vividly the first time a mother told her daughter to ".give way to the lady.." me.
I also remember the day I suddenly acknowledge that I had a bit of history behind me, stuff that happened, almost a career trail, and it made me feel a grown up.
And the day I bought a seven foot ladder. That really was a moment when I felt I had achieved a rather adult-domesticated-point generating feat.
Answer:
Probably the time I was driving drunk and got into a random pull-over. The officer asked for my license and registration, then a 10-year-old thanked me for wearing my seatbelt, gave me some brochures on proper seat belt use. The officer returned with my license and registration, mispronounced my name, and reminded me to drive safely.
That was the last time I ever drove drunk. I so should have lost my license that night. Utterly sobering experience. College was over - I was 22 - and now I'm in the real world, where stupidity kills.
when i turned 22. I realized I was no longer below the legal age, I was no longer just on the limit of adolescence or childhood at 21, I was above and beyond anything considered "young". I was 22.
Plus, I was already confronted with the fact that my parents needed my help and that I had to make sacrifices for the sake of my family.
When I was 23, I got married, got a career, and built a house...all within a month! THAT was a super wake up call!!
Actualy, last March(note, I'm 13)
My entire family got norwalk virious(AKA the Cruse ship virious) and I got over it first. I spent about 2wks doing just about everything. I knew that I was more adult than most.
when I was sixteen, the judge handed me a piece of paper stating me a legal adult. I was emancipated. But the first time I felt like an adult. 12 when my sister was born, and I was given the responsiblity of raising her, and naming her.
