How do I know if I'm obsessed?

I'm a freshmen in university, and there's a junior on my floor...she just seems so cool, I can't get enough of her. I love seeing her, she's just hilarious. During group outings, she has us all in stitches. We don't really know each other, although we've talked before breifly, but I think my friend told her that I thought she was fantastic. She's a bit of an actress and my friend said that she doesn't mind my idolizing her because she loves an audience. I'm not so sure. Every time I see her in the common room, the intensity of wanting to get to know her thickens. Everytime I see pictures of her being silly I get upset that we aren't friends. I think about her often and find myself thinking out the conversations that we'd have if we were friends.

Answer:
I think you would know if you were "obsessed"..that word has such negative connotations so I hesitate to use it.
I don't get if you are m/f..not that it matters, but is it a sexual attraction you find for this person?
Do you feel as though you would do something irrational if you were not more in this persons life? Such as hurt her or yourself? If not, then I doubt you have anything to really be concerned about.
We are attracted intensely to a lot of people over the course of our lives. If someone is fun, or lifts our spirits, makes us feel good, then naturally we want to be with them. If someone makes us feel good about ourselves, then what is the harm?
If you are feeling negative about this situation, or it is causing you undo stress or anxiety, then maybe you should try to focus your attentions on other things and other people you enjoy.
But to use the word "obsessed" may be doing yourself a disservice. I see no reason to call this an obsession.
Try to get to know this person a little more, and you may find out she is merely human and has flaws. If you are female and find you are sexually attracted to her and this is a new feeling, then perhaps you are realizing you are lesbian and she is the first real crush you have had.
If you think this is the case, I hope you can come to terms with it as it is not something you should be ashamed of.
Good luck!
may be u have a major crush on her and/or u might be obsessed with her .may be u should talk to some one like a physicists or ur family doctor cause there is such thing as an obsession disorder.
sometimes when you think about something over and over, that just mean you want it to come true so badly. it doesnt mean that you're obsessed though...now if you was to start stalking that person and doing weird things like snapping pics of her when shes not looking...that would be getting a bit on the obsessed side...and that would be creepy.
Sounds to me like you're about three weeks away from becoming a full-time stalker.
