I think I've got an anger problem...does anyone know anything about such a thing?

I get these really intense feelings of rage where I really struggle to supress my anger, I feel empty inside, I go almost emotionless in the face, and, I've never hurt anyone...really, but I often hurt myself to stop myself hurting other people. what should i do...Psychologist is out of the question (please dont ask why)

wish i could help you right now but im in the same boat,,,,, im so angry and pissed at everthing...hope we get it sorted! i find writing things down when im angry helps as it gets it all out without having to abuse anyone or take my anger out on anyone else...please dont hurt yourself anymore it doesnt help

Go for a run when you get angry to clear your head.

There is indeed such a thing as a rage disorder. It is caused by a neurological problem (usually neurochemical imbalance) within the brain itself. A psychiatrist would be a better person to contact because that person could not only evaluate the problem but also prescribe medications to help ease the symptoms. It's great that you haven't yet harmed anyone besides yourself. I wasn't so lucky. My first husband had a rage disorder and nearly choked me to death.

The other option is therapy with an MSW to learn behavior modification techniques that could catch the rage as it begins and possibly keep it from escalating.

why do you want to hurt the people that make you angry, what do they do, maybe you need to step back and say well this person ticks me off when ...and avoid that person, and dont hurt yourself, you are better than that, buy a punching bag and knock the S*() out of it when you get mad or pick up jogging or bicycling, but do something healthy for yourself because you are worth it instead of being self destructive, take care and good luck man!
