Ouija board precautions??
A friend has been asking me repeatedly to be involved in a ouija board- now I do have a fair understanding of the good/bad spirit warnings that come with, so I was wondering if there any precautions that can be taken beforehand to try and ensure as good an experience as possible? Please don't leave messages trying to dissuade me- I havn't officially said yes, I'm weighing up the pros and cons, so advice and facts would be most useful, thank you.

Banned by the faith. Could never use one--it is tatamount to spiritualism. Don't know why you'd want to curse yourself with soul possession, the voice of the Devil and bad spirits but that's your choice.
There are precautions, blessings and asking for protection from the God/ess, but nothing is fool proof. You shouldn't mess with it unless the person with you is experienced in these precautions and with using Ouija. When I started using it I had very bad experiences, it's not a toy...unless it's Parker Bros=)

Ouija board. I received one for Christmas of all things. I think I was like 8 or 9 years old. I highly suggest that you leave good enough alone! Trust me when I say that I've had some really unnatural experiences with that thing! : (
It's pretty easy to avoid getting hurt while playing a board game. I wouldn't worry about it.

You realise this is a prefabricated board right? Its pumped out of a factory thousands if not millions a day ... It holds no real powers unless its blessed or cursed whatever ... It's just a game like Bloody Mary and so on ... Theres nothing real about it. It just allows people imaginations to run wild.

We didn't know the percautions when me and my friends used one. I dont know any now but I will never use one again. If you really want to use one do all the research about them. We let something out into my friends house. Something bad. Her family ended up moving.

You cannot protect yourself from this because by the very nature of the act you are inviting danger.You are getting involved with something you know nothing about. I am a white witch and i communicate with spirits but not for fun and i use protection but it takes a long time of practice to know when you are protecting yourself correctly- not something you can learn in minutes- most witches would definately not use a ouija board. Please be sensible.

So, when I was a kid, we got a ouija board for Christmas, and we had it a long time. One year our basement flooded, leaving water spots and bubbles all throughout the board, so it was very easy to determine my ouija board from another. Well, the years pass, and my friend and I decided we wanted to play around with the ouija board. We contacted many spirits, including my grandpa. I was under the impression that my friend was the one who was moving the board, so I asked a question that no one would know, and it was, "What did your sister call you?" No one would know this, because it was only she who called him it. The answer was Marvin. Well, I immediately knew it was real.
We continue to mess with the board for a while, when we contact a violent spirit. We were getting really freaked out by then, so we decided to call it quits. Well, if you know anything about ouija boards, you are supposed to let go at the same time, or else the spirit is able to escape into the house/building you are communicating from. I don't think we let go at the same time..
After that, I locked my ouija board in the attic, and told my housemate to not get it out again.
A week later, I come home from work to see my ouija board lying in the yard in front of the house. It has the same water damage, the same marks, and it is 100% identical to MY board. I was pissed, needless to say. I go in, going off, "Did you let the kids play with my ouija board?" And he said "No one has touched it." We go up into the attic, and sure enough, there is my ouija board. This really freaked me out. I threw away both boards in an alley way somewhere and never mentioned it again.
Well, about a month after that, I go into the basement to do laundrey, and hanging from the rafters is a huge thing of Indian corn, in the shape of a human. It looked like a corn husk doll, but it was much larger. No one knew where it came from or how it got there.
So, my tip for you is this: Remember to let go at EXACTLY the same time.

If you feel any negative emotions like fear (the likely seed of all the others) or grief (in the case of wanting to contact the dead), if you are depressed or feel powerless and are looking for some magical help from an entity that you imagine will help you, if you are desperate, jealous or any other negative emotion, then don't touch it.
On the other hand if your emotional state is positive and your friends are also in a great mood, then go for it. For example if there is a question you have which you could not get a decent answer for here, then your intent is perfect. One reason we often don't get proper answers here is that the question is not worded specifically enough. The same applies with the ouija. If you notice any negative thoughts being expressed, just end the session. It is better to just enjoy yourselves.

i played one the other day. nothing happened. just my back hurting from bending over expecting an answer from a board. and it was a makeshift one too
A few years ago two students locked themselves into their room and used a ouija board. The next day they were found dead- slaughtered in a blood bath- their room still locked- even the police concluded that it was something to do with the spirit world. There were no clues and the room was still locked. It is easy to contact the dead using one- it doesn't matter what type of board you make or use. If your friend is intent on contacting the dead i suggest he does it properly by contacting a proper medium or learn to contact the spirit world properly by developing his pysche- it takes time but it is by far the safest way. Those who say they have had no bad experience are very lucky indeed.
Do not Go there...there are enough warning signs even in your head and heart to know better than to go there so dont.
i wouldn't say these are precautions but maybe you should see them.

3). Should the planchette fall from the board a spirit will get loose.
4). A Ouija Board will scream on attempts to burn it, and if it is heard the unfortunate listener will have a mere thirty six hours to live.
5). Never ask about the following: potential death dates (when might I die?), God or buried gold and treasure.
even knowing real precautions i wouldn't use one again. it was a horrible experience. i was using my friends brothers and we were asking stuff, we were young, and we asked who her grandparents fortune would go to and it replied the bitches of the family "their names", and it also said that we would go to hell if we didnt do what it asked. so we got so scared and we stopped using it. so later her brother tried to scare us with it when it wasnt really like "working" so then since he scared us so badly he was supposed to get rid of it so he threw in the the garbage, and it reappeared in his room about an hour later so we were so scared we decided to burn it and it wouldnt light. so we decided to just lock it up. we don't know how it couldve happened but we wish we wouldnt have known about it it was horrible. i don't understand how it happened. but it did.
I am christian and I played with one a few months ago. I didn't realize that it was bad, but it felt wrong while we were playing it. Now I still regret it, it was horrible of me to do something like that, it was creepy and and demonic, the only thing I can say is that you may get addicted to it, but for me I only felt guilt, lots of guilt, I feel sick just thinking about it
