Can you evaluate me psychologically?
Part I: I SAW A HAND COMING AT ME IN THE CAR IT WAS PALE ( LIKE A GHOST'S HAND) DOES THIS MEAN I AM GOING TO DIE?
Okay I know it sounds weird. I have extreme anxiety. I just. caught the "hand" out of the corner of my eye.
Answer:
Visual hallucinations aside, what the hand means depends entirely upon why you were seeing it. If you are a deeply spiritual individual there are occasional visual "signs" used to foretell events which could fall under that description.
It is also very likely since you said that you have extreme anxiety that you may be looking for a sign to confirm what you have been fearing.
A less extreme answer would be that you may have been nodding off, maybe not fully asleep but enough for mind to start to dream in a waking state. It happens occasionally, especially if a person has been sleep deprived for sometime. Which if you have been very anxious your sleep may well have been.
Probably only if you crash. I would use it to create something artistic..a story, a picture. Or just imagine all the interesting (positive) things it could mean: It was the hand of God reaching out to stroke your cheek. It was a lost child caught between two worlds and you made it feel safe. It could be anything. Of course, if you are having hallucinations, I would have it checked out, but sometimes our imagination can run wild.
It doesn't mean you're going to die (unless, as the previous commenter pointed out, you freak out and crash the car).
It does mean that you should give this some serious consideration. Have you had visual hallucinations before? If so, under what circumstances? Are they accompanied by any other type of hallucination (sound, odor)? Have you noticed any other unusual mental or physical symptoms recently? Are you taking prescription drugs that can cause hallucinations in sensitive people or under certain conditions?
It is possible that in sensitive people, extreme anxiety can cause temporary hallucinations. If you have been thinking about death, ghosts, etc a lot lately, the brain can get overloaded on anxiety and may actually "invent" something to make reality agree with your fears. Now, we're not talking major hallucinations here -- like hearing voices telling you to kill your mother, etc -- which would be more typical of a mental disorder such as schizophrenia. If you have those types of symptoms, you really need to consult your doctor promptly and get a proper diagnosis to understand what's going on.
Hallucinations can also be a symptom of certain types of migraine and stroke, drug reaction or interaction, brain injury (previous severe concussion, etc) or a brain tumor. But don't jump to conclusions! There is no point winding yourself up again imagining a brain tumor when it might be something completely harmless or at least something that can easily be resolved.
If you feel that you have any other unusual feelings or symptoms at this time, or if another hallucination occurs, you should certainly get medical advice.
