Are humans by nature driven to violence or do we drive it into ourselves?

My question basically consists of two parts:

Do you think humans just have the primal urges to cause violence and hurt one another, or even simply be verbally combative/abusive. Biologically, possibly a need to fight at times?

Or maybe?

We by tradition, practice and culture have instilled this behavior in ourselves. Via, punishing with force, enjoying violent sports, television shows that glory violence, etc.

I think both seem to be a factor, but I would love to see what others think.

Answer:
We are animals. The goal of all animals is survival. Competition for survival is violent.

Humans have been violent since the beginning of time... or, at least, since we became humans. If there's only one pig, and ten starving people, there will be deaths.

Why do you think we're fighting over oil?

We've tried to bring morality into the picture, but the basic instinct to survive is greater than any will to be "good."

So, in my opinion, the forced punishment, violent sports, gore, etc. is caused by evolution.
Consider this: Do you have to teach a child to tell the truth, or to tell lies? Do you have to teach a child not to hit, or to be violent? Do you have to teach a child to behave, or to misbehave?

Whether people want to admit it or not, we are by nature "sinners" (for lack of a more PC word) ... it stems from greed and pride and ego that causes us to think that WE alone deserve the right to survive ... and last I checked, there were no television, MMA/UFC/WWE, or "bad cops" in ancient Egypt when slaves were forced to build pyramids ... or when the Huns ravaged Asia ... or when Hitler decided he had the Ultimate Solution
for the first part No Maybe that is a learned response to the frustration of the individual towards the current situation,

For the Second Part
You may be right with the copy cat syndrome, but I believe that if the home situation is a good one, and the example set by those around them is loving and kind, it will not make a difference, except to say That's not how my family is.
I would not say it is our nature in that we were not preprogrammed for this. But it is the sinful nature that makes us want things for ourselves and encourages us to take it by force, as opposed to waiting for it, or finding a win-win solution that benefits both parties.
