As a humanist, and an atheist, I am not affected personally by religious belief, but, clearly, in any society, in any nation, in which exists a large block of extremists, such as fundamentalist Islamics and fundamentalist Christians in the USA, there is 'danger' underfoot. Such radical points of view fester and become a sickness, an addiction.

Not at all. We humans need a guideline and we need to believe in something. Any subject taken to the extreme is dangerous.

Yes. Because, honestly, what does it matter what you believe? God, no god, black god, woman god, hell, heaven, be good and you'll get there. Wtf? Fact of that matter is, you're going to die and no one knows what happens next. Make it what you want. And religion can be helpful when you need something to turn to get you through something but what ever happened to believing in yourself? Religion isn't that helpful in doing anything that can't be done without it. Tradition, I guess.
Religion is never dangerous being too much religious might be dangerous sometimes.
For the majority of the population (at least in the west), it is helpful. I think some people need to believe in something higher than themselves to get them through tough times. It also gives them hope and discipline.
I think religion only becomes dangerous when the people practicing it are trying to force it on to others. I'm refering to the people who are treating people of other beliefs unfairly or those who are constantly trying to convert others.
Then again, religion has throughout history been used to control entire countries. Even Machiavelli said religion was a great tool to keep the people in check and that rulers should use it as a pawn.
Tough subject, But in the end...I think it is more helpful. Religion has brought so much inspiration and reinforced the idea of family and brotherly love.

I am a Catholic. && the bible teaches the laws of god. What are very much harmless. && Good for the soul && for us all. But, I heard Islam/Muslim is like a dangerous religion but, IDK.
Religion is not the problem, intolerance and bigotry are. Anytime someone becomes a zealot and believes that they are mandated to be better than another then they become a danger to the world around them. This is not isolated to any religion nor are any immune from it.
