It's all about practice buddy. I'm into media and began my carrer with it into marketing and sales. In my initial days I have had a very negative experience while handling some my big and important clients. On all such calls I used to go again and again to get them over. You know what, some of the clients really liked my approach and encouraged me. I enjoy enviable rapport with most of them even after more than 11 years. It does not means you should approach the clients without being prepared to your best, but the trick is to to have that learning and problem solving approach. I love to learn phenomenally rather than being told. Moreover a marketing person should have a proactive approach in taking action.
Well rapport is basically creating a connection with someone like when you sometimes meet someone and you like the person straight away.
I always thought it had to do with friendship. I thought rapport meant good credibility with a person.
a rapport is just that...a relationship that is built..over time.
the most important thing to opening up new relationships and strengthening old ones is to smile..genuinely..
find something to like about everyone you meet.never speak poorly or gossip about anyone.if other people do say nothing or something like "you know me I keep to myself" or something equally benign ..never face people when you are angry or sad...sing a song in your head that makes you happy ...and you can get through whatever meeting it is..don't interrupt.really listen to people...ask how they are also their kids, spouse or fave sport team that kind of thing.notice things about people and comment positively..."oh did you get a new blouse, it looks nice"...
ask questions about people's interests...find common ground with people..."I love to garden also"
be genuine, listen and don't judge
I don't know any good books, but I know if you can develop good listening skills, it will help. When you build rapport, you are building a more personal relationship, in a way. Like learning kid's names, then asking how they are doing the next time you visit or later in the conversation. Or finding a common interest/hobby, then asking questions about it. It will really help you in sales if you can listen well.
Rapport is a trusting relationship.. Where you build something with someone and it flows in harmony. Rapport is like sharing your character in a positive way with people consistently until they have a good idea on their own of who you are and what you're about..
