I want to learn psychology and do something in this area but I think i may be too old to do anything in proff?
Answer:
To make a difference, see if there are programs through church or school that get you ready to, perhaps, tutor or guide children. Read, on your own.
When you interact, you talk. You could be a mentor; a guide.
This could be done without, actually, attending college.
You could take a course or two. Anything you learn could be used, right away.
Go to school, if you can. My best.
C. :)!!
you're never too old. go for what you want to do. not what will take the least amount of time.
You don't look old. Granted getting the professional degrees is expensive, but in this field you'll pretty much need a bachelor's degree to do anything, even just to be a mental health counselor at $12 p/h. Social work can be very rewarding, but again you'd need a master's degree to have a really decent career. Good luck!
Contact a Career Counselor at the local University or Community College. He or she can give you some ideas on paths to follow in this field.
You are NEVER too old to learn something new.you can take a college course, even a home study course.could take you three years to get a Diploma in Child Psychology, and then a few more years to work for higher qualifications if you so wish...contact your local colleges and see what they have to offer.age is just a number
Bachelor of Social Work -- 4 years if no college, but one or two if college degree in some other subject.
Master's in Social Work -- one to three year programs if you have a Bachelor's.
Lic. Vocational Nurse - one year
Registered nurse - 1-3 years
Mental Health Worker -- direct patient care - on the job training
Psych Tech -- direct care - on the job training
Youth Services Worker - high school education, on the job training
Just a few ideas! Good luck!
My mother realized a life long dream of being a nurse. At 52 she went back to school and has enjoyed 27 years of nursing.
YOu can be a child and school psychologist. Thats where you can really make a difference for kids. Teaching sucks because you have all of the responsibility, but none of the authority. YOu are babysitter (for the invalids that drool everywhere that they mainstream into your class) you are parent, because parents dont do their jobs anymore. It blows. Being a school psych. you can get inot the kids heads talk to them and really make a difference. get a BA/BS then within 2 years you can get an Ed Spec. which is basically a PhD with no dissertation.
JUST DO IT !
No one's too old to learn something if one is really interested. You can still study psychology without graduating from this course. It is enough that you get a good background on the subject. I think there are some crash courses offered online. Do check on them if you want to.
that whole age thing is shouldnt even be considered. i barely recieved my A.S. this past june and i just turned 35. im going to be working towards my A.A. this fall. i was busy before being a single mom so now its my turn for me. do it for yourself if anything.
your never too old to reach your dreams. do you think that you will be truly happy just settling instead of going all the way. but if you really don't have the time to do what you want there is always, school counselors, or some type of social service worker. maybe you should look online for some good ideas.
