Is there some kind of disorder or something that causes this? Whenever I put Neosporin or something similar on her cuts, she licks it off. I think she will fall down on purpose, and then she wno't stop crying until I give her some ointment, even if there is no cut, to eat. She is a danger to first aid kids, she gets in them over at her friend's houses and in school and eats whole tubes. She is banned from the nurse's office because she has eaten multiple tubes. Last night, I told her to go get me something in the grocery store and she didn't come back. I went to look for her and found her in the pharmacy area ripping open boxes and squeezing entire tubes of this ointment into her mouth. It cost me almost seventy dollars to pay for all her damage. It's embarrassing and probably dangerous. What can I do?

most definitely talk to the doctor. How old is she?? I am going to assume that since you let her off by herself in the store that she is above pre school age. Sometimes little kids will eat weird stuff (i had a thing for vics vapor rub when i was like 2 or 3 but nothing like this--this is sounding almost obsessional---she knows it is wrong but knows enough to sneak around to do it, and flouts social norms (the scene in the store) to meet her needs. It sounds like a compulsion. I think PICA is accurate, but i would ABSOLUTELY check with the doctor
