Sister afraid of cockroaches.?

She is really really scared like if she sees one she has to leave the room running or if it is within 10 feet of her she scream loudly.

I know they are gross and I dislike them but is that normal?

She is 10 years old is this anything to think about I tried tlaking to her about it.

And it is all bugs to a small beetle will send her running and screaming, are all little girls afraid of bugs, I always liked them

Answer:
I think it's normal. I did the very same thing at that age. I still scream and run with spiders, mice, rats, centipedes, and roaches. I basically scream at anything that gets into the house and isn't supposed to be there.
I know this may be harsh, but try to get her closer inch by inch to things that fear her.

Perhaps lock a roach inside a jar or something and tell her to approach it slowly.

Give he reasons to not be afraid of roaches, etc.

Tell her that its the size of her finger nail or something, then ask if shes afraid of finger nails?

Well, after all, she is 10, if all else doesn't work, just give her a break.
I come from a family who are terrified of seeing even a commercial on TV with cockroaches in it. It's completely normal. It's no big deal for me since I'm used to hear their loud shriek everytime they come across one.
Go to Home Depot or Lowe's and buy some Boric Acid insecticide powder. Spread it all around the baseboards and inside cabinets and in places you've seen them. They will walk through it and carry it back to the nest. They like to clean themselves and others. This stuff is extremely TOXIC to them but not you. Within a week or two they'll all be gone.

Your sister has GOOD reason to be afraid of them. They spread diseases like Diphtheria and Cholera. They are very nasty, fast, and annoying bugs. If you ever lived in Miss. or Louisiana you'd know what a REAL cockroach was (Water Bugs). they are HUGE and can FLY!

Some garden beetles are pesky too. Japanese beetles are cute but eat up your garden. There are other flying beetles that bite too. She should have a healthy respect for bugs as many are dangerous especially the biting kind like mosquitoes which cause Dengue Fever, Malaria, and other blood-borne diseases. She should be trained in proper extermination and control procedures.

You can teach her to like the non-dangerous kind but there aren't many. Some caterpillars are very toxic. Butterflies are cute though. Dragon & Damsel flies are totally harmLESS. Not all spiders are safe. Houseflies are disease carriers and will lay maggot eggs in your garbage can. Unless you want her to become an Entomologist or a Buddhist I can't see any up-side for encouraging her to let her guard down around most bugs and not stomp 'em when they violate the home portal boundaries.

Slap that big 'skitter before she bites you injects you with spirochetes and you get West Nile Virus girl! Raise her to be an Orkin-Man (woman)!

A word to the wise should suffice!
