What is this terrifying disorder called?

A ventriloquist starts to believe (or always believed) that the very puppet he controls is a real person(ality), and converses with it and asks it questions, and takes the answers (although from himself) as though from a separate and unique entity. What is this disorder called?

Answer:
Reminds me of the Ventriloquist from Batman.

It sounds like a case of dissociative identity disorder. Most people would say schizophrenia, but that's not the case. Schizophrenia and multiple personality disorder/dissociative identity disorder are very different.
Al Gore disease, or "boring wooden puppet" syndrome
It is a form of split personality schizophrenia. Instead of the alternate personality manifesting itself in the person's body...it manifests in the puppet.
this would be a form of split personality instead of it being introverse the patient in question is projecting his "alter ego" into a fetter or something of great mental importence in the cases i have worked the projection is some part of themselves that they are afraid to be/or face
Dick Cheney
It reminds me of George Bush and Tony Blair as his puppet
classic schitzaphrenia. Apparently he has to talk this out with somebody and it might be so disturbing that he only trust himself to hear it.
a schitzo
