What is the best way to forgive something, so that you don't feel frustrated for doing so?
How do you forgive someone who has hurt you (consciously or unconsciously)?
What is the process involved (as far as you're concerned).
Answer:
I think the first thing is to realize that by forgiving them, you're not saying that what they did was all right. Too many people think they'll be letting someone get away with something by forgiving them. That's not true.
By forgiving someone, you have to realize and articulate that what they did was very hurtful to you, but that you're making an active choice to forgive them. In the process, you're freeing yourself from the burden of the hurt they've caused.
Feeling the forgiveness rarely happens right away. Usually afterwards, you have to use a bit of self-talk to remind yourself that you chose to forgive that person. After a while, the script gets rewritten in your head and you move on with your life.
You have to be genuinly ready to forgive the person. Not jsut to have everything settled but to also be at peace with one another. And that person should be sorry/repentful for it. If they dont care its not worth forgiving them. then you both tlk itout. That usually is how it should go. Hope this helped.
u dont u stand up for urself take em down a notch kick thier u no whats if it was something that really hurted u conciously and unconsiously
Forgive and forget, or pray to be able to forgive and forget.
Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
the courage to change the things I can;
and the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.
it sucks and will always be in the back of your mind. i really do not believe that you can do it forgive and forget are very hard you will always remember. just let time take its toll and if after a month or so and you still think about it let that person go cause you Will NEVER FORGET IT...good luck it will always be in the back of your mind
Acceptance is key to forgiveness. I think acceptance is something that can be developed by cognitive reasoning.
Like for e.g. if I was offended by the inconsiderate behaviour of a neighbour, I would calm myself down by telling myself "They are just being humans. Humans are born to be stupid and make mistakes. It is better to forgive. They know not what they are doing." I always feel better after telling myself that, because I readily accept the notion that humans are born stupid and bound to make mistakes. I'm kinda noble that way.
