Wow. that's pretty darn weird?

i was having this discussion with someone on the perceived "weird" stuff we see people doing.

- i saw a girl walk barefoot on the street. a busy street. high fashion shops around the corners. she was dressed fine, had the obligatory brand label hand purse and all.

- another one- someone was eating cup-a-noodles while walking real fast and screaming into a cell phone!

-outside a jewellery shop, these chinese men were waiting for their wifes, and they were all squatting on the floor, even though there were benches right beside them.

well weird is relative.
so what's a norm for one culture would be something so very strange in another.

what do you think.
and did i spell weird right? i always get confused.

Answer:
I'm a westerner living in an asian country, & I see "weird" stuff everyday:

* a tiny, very old woman hitting a policeman over the head with a bunch of spring onions and screaming at him. He tried to book her for riding her motorbike without a helmet, & she perceived this as disrespectful. He apologised & she rode off with her damaged vegetables, muttering under her breath.

* watching the butcher swat flies on his meat, hanging up out in the open, & flicking the dead flies off with his fingers.

* a complete stranger walks up to me on the street & gives me a pear. I ask "why?", and he tells me because it's all he has to give.

* seeing a baby in the top drawer of a filing cabinet in the local hospital, because they didn't have any cots.

* buying a DVD player, & in the manual it states "this player can only show pirate copies, do NOT attempt to view original DVDs"

* my bathroom door attached to the door frame with duct tape, as it's "more waterproof than sticky tape", my landlord tells me.

And SOOOOOOO many more incidents, that NUTHIN is weird to me anymore!
yeah a bit weird but somethings happen in life which u have to see and forget i you dont like it....
preserve only the sweet memories and destroy all the others
your weird
well i dk i think we r all a lil weird...for instance try this experiment...when your riding in a car while someone else is driving and your on a busy interstate, start looking up at the sky and pointing in the air like you see something even though there is nothing there and then look at all the people in the cars next to you and you'll notice they r looking up...or say you have a headache from the strong perfume Oder and keep telling everyone that you cant stand the smell even though there really isn't one, and then wait and see how many people suddenly start complaining of strong perfume odor.this happens more often then you think... anyways so my point is...that just cuz all those dudes were squatting doesn't mean you knew what was really going on...maybe they were squatting to see if you would look at them funny? and so...thus.if you really wanna know if someones weird just ask em like what they think about the Ora of the universe or what kinda panties they wear.possibly you might find out that being weird isn't sucha bad thing...I'm pretty proud of being called a dork myself and if someone said i wasn't a dork then id prolly get defensive or upset, lol gl! big hugs big smiles!
I have always marvelled at people in a catatonic stupor requiring treatment and care. Had they been born in India or the far East they might be revered for their unique ability to meditate motionless for extended periods of time.
Weird is definitely NOT relative. And Im not even sure all can be attributed to culture either (altho some can). You are correct that each culture has its own way of doing things, and altho "normal" there, its considered "odd" somewhere else, its more a matter of people just being themselves. I used to dress to the nines for work everyday (including 3 inch heels), but never wore (and still dont wear) shoes once Im home. Ive been known to take them off as soon as I punched out...who cares? Its all what makes us comfortable. Some things may hit us as odd (hell, Ive even laughed aloud at some sights!), but after all, variety IS the spice of life! Its what makes life so very interesting!
Perhaps fashion girls el cheapo rubber flip flops, flopped for the last time.

It may be that cell phone screamers high carb diet is causing hypertension.

The Asian squatters were possibly experiencing oneness with the earth by sitting on it.

There's a reason for everything, enjoy the show.

I feel weird writing this, hmmm.
