Have we taken 'being nice' too far?

'Don't take this personally ... but'..
Why are we sugar coating everything, and seemingly completely incapable of asking someone else to be responsible for themselves. With the all the self-help gurus, we seem to get personal responsibility, but why is it so bad to want to be able to expect others to also be personally responsible.

Answer:
you say "WE".. do you mean the whole world? i think this is a personal situation for you. i understand where you are comming from. people SHOULD take responsabilityfor their actions. it is no good when a person feels they must blame others for mistakes. but at the same time it IS good to thank someone for helping with successes.
No more Mr. nice guy.
Taking responsibility for one's actions is admitting guilt and who in the hell is going to admit that they were wrong?
i think making things nicer is the way you get them to listen to you. not all nicey-nicey... but its about developing a rapport with people.
