We humans are verbal beings. If we choose to question or disregard this aspect of human communication, we would be completely lost.

We can't always wait for a person's actions before we decide if he means what he says. We must be intelligent and intuitive enough to interpret the messages he is sending with his speech patterns and his body language, as well as his words.
He has a point. that is why people communicate more by what they do, rather than what they say.
