How can we get depressed?
Answer:
Just turn on the news, that will get you depressed.
I don't think you CAN get depressed, you just ARE depressed.
And there is such a problem as depression, regardless of how unlikely it may seem.
The problem comes when we constantly belittle ourselves and our actions, and think that everything we do or say will be criticized, and has the potential to be wrong. People fall into a depression usually because they have low self-esteem, and self-confidence, and need help picking themselves back up from it.
You become "boring and lonely" as a result of self induced isolation. You stay away from things and people that used to make you happy, because they are having the opposite effect on you when you are stuck in a rut of negativity.
Actually, it kind of surprises me that more people AREN'T depressed. And I think it is wrong to assume that it is always the depressed person's fault. (If that IS what you said: you're message was a little hard for me to understand.) It is quite easy to be caught in the middle of a trauma through little or no fault of your own, and even if it is your fault that you're depressed, because you did something not correct, that doesn't lessen the emotional state of depression at all - someone who depressed because of what they did is just as sad as someone depressed from what someone else did. It is also possible to just have a hormonal imbalance, genetically or through a brain injury.
