If we accept the Zen premise that all is illusion in the material world, then an online relationship is ...?

like seeing reality in the shadows of a fire in a cave.

Answer:
If you can choose to exist in the formless emptiness of Spirit, then objects are immaterial.

Since, the shadows in a cave are objects which are presented to your consciousness, they have form and are thus as real as any other object.

Indeed, I believe that all that you mention are illusions.
its how u see it and how u feel it basically, u make it real if u want it to be real, if not, then treat is as fleeting precious moments, yeah if u want to put it that way, shadows of a fire in the cave, they can be entertaining and yet when the fire goes out, its gone. real friendships, on or offline should not be like that. friendships should be developed as real as it should be.
The Void.

No differnt that anything else that your non existing mind invents to confuse you.
