How do you overcome fear?
How do you overcome fear?
When somebody confronts you and threatens you with a fight. He comes too close and point with his finger at your face, too close. What do you do if all you feels is fear. Eventhough you are a trained martial artist, for god's sake....

Hi Inspiron510m,
There can a few different ways to overcome fear. Keep in mind it can be very difficult.
Sometimes fears are created as a child, such as my phobia to ketchup. It is likely I became fearful when I saw it along with something else that was aversive, such as a loud noise or smack, this is known as classical conditioning. The way to get rid of it in this case is to use reverse classical conditioning. Introduce the stimulus with something that is pleasant. There are other ways as well, but keep in mind this can be very difficult.
Some fears can also be with personality. You may not be that confrontational and not willing to fight. In your mind, you may believe that fighting is pointless and being aggressive physically is not going to get you anywhere. You may just be smarter than the other person, trying to fight you. Obviously, you would have to change your personality to rid yourself of this, which again takes time.
If someone threatens you, just go, run if you can, turn your back away. Somebody once said that turning your back at a fight is a more braver and more courageous act than getting and putting on some black eyes.
It's ok. We all have personal fears. If you really want to even at least stand up for yourself (but oh please don't wrestle with him!), talk to yourself, confront that guy inside you. Condition yourself, you'll gather up courage that way, I guess.
try to remember how superior you are to him.
;D
Laugh it off!
# 1 fear no man, think of that hold tight to this no man can bring harm 2 u!
Think about the opponents phsycology. They will be hot headed, you can remain calm. Think about being effective. Think through the situation and realize that you are able to be more effective because you have thought through every possible outcome of the situation. Be smart!
well i did have a fear at a time in my life and a great person told me there is no such thing as fear ,hummm i thought, they said if i gave you a bucket and i sent you on a treasure hunt and i gave you a list of items to find and on that list one of those items was fear...and they said that i had to return with my bucket full, well.the first item on the list was fear !so we played out the scenario i had the bucket, and went out to seek out my items on the list ,well i couldn't find anything to fill my bucket ...i returned with my bucket ...and it was pointed out that it was still empty ...why? there is no such thing as fear .. fear is only something another imposes on another to gain power over another ...well it didn't help me at the time to get the better of my opponent but now that i think about it it did .
Fear is a Adrenaline reaction normal too all - That is the Adrenaline reaction is the norm...Fear is a Mis interpation as it does not exist - Only as trained behavior- as extreme sports show you andrenaline can be fun...
Hi,
This is an interesting question. Overcoming fear is important when it keeps you from functioning normally or has a negative affect on your life and that of your loved ones. My question to you is why you want to overcome it?
Feeling fear is normal, especially if you are being threatened. Part of that fear is the adrenalin in your body that helps you fight if necessary.
Perhaps it is the fear of being cowardly that you should address, but I am just guessing. If you are threatened, it is normal to feel fear.
You may want to boost up on your training to help build more confidence.
My best to you.
fears comes when we can't understand the things that we confront. so first you have to know and understand why he/she/it confronts you, and then you act by what your heart says.
but to understand it, you have to be calm and relax, and i'm sure when we are dealing with someone who's threatens us, our temper will rise and it's hard for us to be calm and relax in that situation. so it'l needs a practice.
Just because you are trained in the arts of fighting doesnt mean you can kick *.
In order for that to happen, you have to experience fighting in order to overcome the fear, and the fear never really goes away anyways.
Even if you win a million fights, you still have that fear of losing or getting hurt.
But confidence is what can push that fear into bravery.
Remember, Being brave does not mean the absence of fear.
