Please help - Late at night I go on an eating binge - Why?

Any of you have any ideas as to what I can substitute for binging? I'm not overweight - I work it off, but I would be more toned and relaxed if I didn't wake up late at night and eat hamburger buns with ketchup.. Haha - don't make fun.

Could this be a disorder or some kind?

There is a disorder like this, I remember seeing it on tv newsline or something. My 27 year old daughter for years has awakened and has to promptly go eat something, like you said, people laugh but she is not fat. I think it also could be hypoglycemia, where you blood sugar falls a bit too low a certain amount of hours after you eat, and people with it have to eat several small meals, more frequently, and when i does fall below a certain limit, you get ravenous. That's how my son with juvenile diabetes is also, if he takes too much insulin and not enough food, he would eat his shirt if he had to. You might want to talk to your doc and get a glucose test, or whichever one they use to diagnose this. Good luck.
you wake up late at night because your hungry so before you go to bed eat someting and you wont wake up p.s. you might just be a pig
not sure girl but the same happens to me. at night i get really strong cravings for food. and during the day im fine.
I do the exact same thing unless I take a Hoodia pill after dinner. I eat snack after snack as if I've had a meal. It's all healthy food though because I went on a low-fat diet a while back.
i'm not sure but maybe you could try to drink water if you keep waking up at midnight
It is possible you are not eating enough during the day. I would try eating breakfast and small meals throughout the day. Make sure you exercise, and try to go to bed by 10 pm.
Prepare food you will eat, when theses cravings hit you at night. A Protein Bar would be best. Sliced Apples, Carrots, Tomatoes, Melon all are better for you, then Hamburger Buns with Ketchup. Even a hard boiled egg would be better. Be prepared and soon you will no longer have these cravings late at night.
