What is the main difference between the defense mechanisms disassociation and compartmentalization?
Answer:
disassociation - not to deal with or even acknowledge issues
compartmentalization - recognizing issues, but keeping them separate. so they do not interfere with anything else.
As I understand it, Compartmentalisation occurs consciously and dissociation is a subconscious or 'hidden' process.
I look forward to seeing other people's answers on this.
depending upon your perspective of what one displays, it is still the matter of MIND CONTROL that is equaled with both.
disconnection is key
I'm not a Dr. but in my mind it would seem that defense mech. disassociation would be something the mind uses all the time, and compartmentalization would be more of a filing system, if you will, that you use on a random basis, that triggers the defense?
