If I need to 'fire' my therapist...?
What's a good excuse to tell him. I don't like to come across and tell this very straight forward to her.
Answer:
You don't need a good excuse. Just be honest and tell her that you do not feel enough of a personal connection and rapport to share with her honestly. When this bond is not there then it is impossible to make any progress and for you to deal with your issues. Trust is an important factor in a therapeutic relationship as well. This will help you to work on your assertiveness, and is an excellent exercise for you to build some self advocacy.
Don't try "excuses".tell him the truth. If you don't think he is helping you, tell him. If you don't like his treatment methods, tell him. Both of you deserve the truth, and you will feel better for telling it, rather than a lie.
I wouldn't recommend lying to your therapist. As a professional, she will be trained to deal with patients and can recommend other help you can get. As someone who has made a life out of helping people, she will also want to do what will be best for you.
first! relax! think again why u want to fired ur therapist! if it's something that u really cant take it anymore just said the word! be brave!
I agree with the others that have answered.don't lie. Tell the therapist what isnt working for you and that you have decided to end treatment with him/her. The therapist works for you so ultimately you have the power regardless of how it may seem. If this therapist is not being beneficial for you then it is your right to dismiss him/her and find one that is better suited to your needs. Sometimes it can take several attempts before you find one that will hold you accountable for your actions but be supportive enough to assist you in change work
No excuses.
Just tell him the truth, there's nothing wrong in telling someone you don't need their services any more...
the question is why fire her?
ur her employer, unless the therapy is court ordered, so you dont need as reason, you don't even need to tell her anything beyond "i am not coming to see you anymore", if she asks you why tell her the truth.
unless its weird
in that case tell us the truth, then we can help
Write them a letter. This will let you say what you want to say because you can think and rethink it until you perfect it, and it won't be as scary for you.
It's true. As one who wishes to become a psychiatrist, I know that eventually, if I'm not able to help the patient with a certain method, I would certainly want honesty even if it means me changing how I approach things. After all, therapists and psychiatrists are there for you not the other way around. If you don't feel you are getting what you are paying for, say so and go elsewhere if it continues to be a problem. I hope this helps.
