Answer:
What kind of work do you do?? Why are you responsible for evaluating them?? From the minimal description you gave if this persons personality unpredictably and quickly switches from being civil to being very nasty and mean...Bi-polar comes to mind...Or a definite Anger issue that needs be addressed with that person ASAP.. . Or the person may be going thru a difficult matter at home that is trickling into the work place..It sounds like this person clearly has people working around them walking on egg shells.. If this is a work place setting..on the review I would suggest a supervisor be present in case the employee goes off on you during the evaluation. They do however need to be confronted about their TOXIC behavior in the workplace...They also need to be reminded that work "Boundaries" and rules of conduct are enforced at your work place to support the safety of all employees working there..Trust me I know this type person too well...Before "Boundaries" in the work place became a mandatory class for all employees to attend once a year to address TOXIC work place personalities..We had a head nurse with seniority that was a nitemare to work around because nobody ever knew when she would go off...When we reported her because she was close to 60 years of age and within 5 years of retirement..Upper management "DUCKED" and swept it under the rug and made a living hell nitemare situation for those stuck tolerating her. Then a rapid turn overs and transfers out of the department happened when the employees realized the upper management of the hospital was not going to do a thing !! Hope this answers your question.
Be careful of on-line psychoanalysis. You can literally lose your job over this. Learn more about your company's and country's policies on psychological intervention and speak to a psychologist if you really want to know. However, they will probably say they need to see her before giving an impromptu diagnosis. And you are not allowed to hire and fire based on any information gathered thus.
For what it's worth: I think you're referring to narcissism. However the mood-swings is something else. No simple once-off diagnosis will suffice. Sorry!
Good Luck!
Borderline personality disorder
I'm not sure if that is called "Self-Confident" to speak about their friends and sibling to a great degree. I think it's more like avoiding themselves and focusing on other ppl. (And no I don't get the pic. from what you've stated and that's why I can't come up with the specific term regarding this...
The extreme mood changes can be a part of that person's bipolar disorder (manic-depression). It's normal to be nice and friendly and then if provoked scream and hurt ppl. out of anger. I'd have to know the specific circumstances of the mood changes. There are many medications out there on the market nowadays to alleviate this problem when the mood changes are extreme, frequent or/ and causes one to be dysfunctional. In those instances it would need to be psychiatrically diagnosed.
