Why do people instantly look beautiful when they smile?

I'm not convinced it's beauty necessarily. I feel like it's an emotion they are giving off, one that we are attracted to. Most people like others who are happy, enjoying life & are drawn towards others who appear happy and loving life - or making the most of a situation. There probably has somethign to do with a smile being cute, or more attractive, changes the expression of the face with eyes more open, etc... maybe a gleam in the eye. I think they DO - and you're more attracted to them because of it.
'Cos when they smile, their facial muscles get pulled up and that makes them look younger or more radiant.

Because the most attractive thing to someone is self confidence. When you smile, it makes it look like you have self confidence.
maybe because Nature wanted to encourage humans to smile more and spread happiness too.
