I think a boy really needs his father respect in order to grow to his full potential. I have seen many men who had loving mothers but lacked father figures on a whole or never quite gained his respect. these men, try as they might, never seems to reach their potential. They were men without goals and ambition. If a father can give this to his son , then that shows real love also. Self esteem does much to carry the human spirit. Fathers,,,,,show your children.especially your sons respect...Let them grow into great men.

Both, they are of enormous value a mother's love is usually a sure thing, as most mothers would take a bullet for their children, for a boy to earn his father's respect is also a great gift, because it tells them that they are doing the right thing in life and that their father approves of what they are doing and how they are growing and trying to learn

Oh dear, I am afraid my ex husband has no respect for his son. My son has tried so hard to gain this but not succeeded. All I can say is I am so thankful he does not take after his father he is a wonderful boy/man and he seems to find my love extremely important - perhaps more so under the circumstances. My ex does not seem to realise what he is or has lost.
