How do you get people to listen and care about what you are saying??

People will either care or they will not. It's a tough spot to be because you can't force someone to care. Even if someone does care, often they will do nothing because it seems to them like nothing will change as a result of their actions. The truth is that the more people are behind something pushing it along, the more that will happen as a result.

get their attention and then make it relevant to them. be persistent.
It has to interest and affect them.Also how you look verses who you are addressing matters.
You need to have facts to back up what you're trying to get people's attention focused on. Have a good arguement.
I find the best way is to show them respect, show them you understand their interests and then to make a point in why they should care about this issue and how it might help them.

It's all in the delivery. If a child new the answer to lifes questions nobody would listen. If a scholar had nothing to say he would still have a crowd. Know what your going to say before you say it. Have good adjective, absolutely no transition words like uh, um and like. And take dramatic pauses before and after your main statement(s).
It's in the listeners hand. You can be the best speaker in the world, but if they aren't willing to listen and cooperate then your trying in vain. Encourage open minds and if that doesn't work I would say find a new crowd.
Really, there isn't much to do. If you told everyone how you feel, I mean really broke it down. Explained why it means so much to you and no cares. Well, no one cares about it. Your just going to have to walk only on this. Sorry, but it's the truth. Keeping it real.

yea - i like how people never listen and act indifferent and selfish all the time, but then if you decide not to talk since it's fruitless, they get all pist and say that you never talk and they ask what the hell is wrong with you.
It's like you can't win with people.
2 things: Find out what they are interested in and dovetail your interest with theirs, and make them think that your idea is their idea. They will be ecstatic. It takes humility. It works.
