I surprised myself with my response to your question. I immediately thought of Angelina Jolie. She wanted another woman's husband, she wants kids seemingly on a whim--whether she conceives them or adopts them, she has a fantastic house in New Orleans, money, everything. Even the publicity she gets is materialisitic because she has reps who put out the positive stories on her that keeps her in the public eye which leads to more roles... To me materialistic means less regard for people. Whatever the true story is behind her alienation from Jon Voigt (her dad) she dismissed him from her life just as she did Billie Bob Thornton. It certainly did nothing to hurt her career. Anyway that's my rant for the night, but I can see why everyone immediately thought of Paris and Madonna.
