What force drives a man to become a terrorist?
what are the psychological factors, that contribute for a person to become a terrorist? are they genetic? traumatic experiences in child hood? inferiority complex?
Answer:
I agree with alterego. I think oppression , a sense of injustice and a complete loss of hope would cause someone to become a terrorist.Notice that most "terrorists" come from oppressed, poor and war-torn countries.
This is a one word answer, it really is that simple. Religion.
Alot of the wrongs in the world over the last 2000 years can and should be blamed on religion. It is the bain of our existance. Where else in life can you con people into believing so much drivel without proof and not go to jail?
well i know that some oranized terrorism groups teach kids to become terrorists but if your question is what drives an everyday person to suddenly become a terrorist it might have something to do with the persons past
Well, neil j is incorrect in that he's taking the stereotypical approach. Most major religions are entirely against violence toward innocent people. If you want to understand, you might have to befriend a person (an intellectual person!) from an oppressed culture. Years of watching "super powers" support those who are oppressing your people feeds the fire. Sure, religious extremists are involved, but the force behind many terrorist attacks is long-term oppression.
look at it this way: in iraq right now, for example, we are fighting a war, and every side believes itself to be right... what we call a terrorist on this side is quite just and dignified on that side... this all depends only on one's point of view.
idealism
Religious fanatcism, false ideals, fanatic ideology, envy. . .
