It seems to me that you are doing it. Your here answering peoples questions and creating some interesting ones that people can think about.
Helping people can just being there!
Helping people sounds more romantic and adventurous than it really is. Prepare to have people walk all over you and rarely show appreciation. Then wait for yourself to need help and see how many people run to you to help. Sheeeshh.. Plus, you CAN'T HELP PEOPLE THAT DON'T WANT YOUR HELP.
It sounds like you need some help and are a bit off balance to be helping anyone. Help yourself. Just as in the airplane, when the mask drops down put your own on before turning to help others. It is obvious, to help others you have to be at choice and fairly centered and grounded. Maybe if you did your homework on yourself the situation would become more sensible.
i know how you feel, i love helping ppl also. I want to become a therapist/writer so maybe influence ppl somehow. You are on this site and by answering serious ?s and giving good advice, you are already contributing. You can also volunteer at hospitals, give to charity or do some community work. whatever makes you feel like you're helping.
It's easy - go out there and volunteer. There's alot of things that needs to be done in the community. Check with your organization or school and see if they have anything you do. Church is also a good place to serve.
