If you could be immortal, would you choose to be? Why?

best answer gets 10 points

Answer:
No. Personal immortality comes at the price of eternal solitude or eternal losing your friends etc.

It is also a non natural thing the society is not ready yet; just figure out yourself showing your 5000 years old ID to some policeman! That's weird. Therefore, each 2 decades you have to change your identity - which is a criminal act.

Besides wouldn't you like to be buried by your son rather than you to bury him?!

As the above stated were not enough, I am so sick and tired of my life... and it just passed one half of it roughly! OMFG, I still have some 40 more years to spend under the hot sun and cold moon and whet rain and speedy tornadoes and... OMFG, OMFG, OMFG,... OMFG!
Awesome question, I would say, no, because aging and dying is a part of life and it would pain me to see people dying before me. (see:green mile)
Not unless everyone was immortal. I would not want to have to bear always losing loved ones to death/old age and i just continue to live. One day i want to be with my loved ones in heaven and live forever with them. I would rather live the immortal life in heaven than on this earth where there is so much pain and suffering.
Honestly it depends on a few things.
Some examples being:

If i get any type of injury or sickness that would cause intense pain before killing a regular human, would I have to live through it or would my body be immune to injury or sickness

Can I make others immortal too?

Would my children that are born after me becoming immortal be immortal too?

Would I continually age, but never die?

But, as long as I didn't age, I would probably chose it. As others said, humans are social creatures. But I'm used to loneliness so I would be fine. Besides, it would be interesting to see how this world plays out. But I would like a way to end my life after all advanced life is gone.
No, because you'd watch everyone around you die and quite frankly that would suck. We're social creatures, interactions with people we care about are all we have. Unless you have a group of immortals... that's a different story...
